My name is Jerry and I live in Sterling Hts MI. That is 20 miles north of Detroit. I am an automotive technician for GM and have been there over 30 ears. I have a 1976 Firebird "plain jane" with a 455. I am debating about making it into a T/A or a Formula. I am building a new 455, I was before I bought this car, it has Edelbrock heads, hydraulic roller cam, 4.25" stroke Scat forged crank and .030 over Diamond forged pistons. I am making a fun street engine. It was originally for a 1986 Grand Prix 2+2 that I had but I had someone who really wanted that car. I then found the 1976 Firebird. So far I have done a 1LE front brake conversion and I replaced the 9 1/2" rear drums with 11" drums from a 73-77 A body. I also installed larger front and added a rear sway bar.

Sounds like it’ll be a fun car! There is a lot of great info here and people who will help you along the way, just check back in regularly, especially if you ask a question.  :)

Hello-I am from Naples, FL. Name is Paul -I recently purchased a 1980 SE-non turbo, excellent condition overall. I do have an issue with the drivers side t-top. It is not sitting flush on the posterior post and the top itself is lose-meaning it locks in ok despite not being flush on back post, but the whole top has wiggle room on all sides. 9 this would leak severely in the rain). Who or how can I find someone to assess the issue before I go ahead and replace the weather seal. I want to make sure that there isn’t something else wrong. I really don’t think a replacement seal will fix much but I am not sure. The passengers side fits great and locks down flush. I would like to think there is someone who could do virtual ‘tele-medicine’ session and I can show them.

Secondly who has the better reputation at selling replacement parts that they could recommend. Thank you and appreciate the input others have that we all can learn from.

Paul

Hello All.  My name is Jim. I live about 1 hour north of Salt Lake City.  I purchased a 78 Y88 about 1 1/2 years ago.  It has been sitting in the shop wait for its turn.  I started the process of restoring it a couple months ago. I am super excited to finish it and drive it.

Hi everyone.
My name is Scott and I am currently piecing back together a 77 Esprit that I bought in boxes as someone elses un-finished project.
I do have a build thread on another forum that I will transfer across here at some point.  I've joined up as the other forum is a general car forum in Australia, so specific questions about the intricacies of a 77 bird are outside most people's knowledge.

Yes I'm the latest FNG.

I had a 78 WS6/W72 as a kid, and never quite got over it. Just stumbled upon a mostly restored Tahoe Blue 80 turbo, and just had to have it.Came with a bunch of parts, including a huge tube full of bird droppings for it.

Greetings,   Mark here from Portland, Oregon.   I'm doing the clone thing on my 79 since the car I really want is soooo expensive now.  Come to think of it, that's also why I built a Cobra kit car about twelve years ago.....the originals were too expensive.....oh well, great site.   Peace.

Thanks for adding me.  Live in Louisiana and have always been a car guy.  Haven't had a project in 20 plus years and looking to get another.  Came across a 78 T/A the other day and it sparked a flame.  It's a barn find and I hope to get it.  Looking forward to chatting with all of you soon.
