Topic: Year one 17 x 9 snow flakes fine scratches and blems in clear coat

Has any one else experienced some problems with the rims from Year one? I received a set and they had fine scratches on the outer lip of the rim along with marks in the clear coat on the outer rim where it looked like the cloth covering had made an impression in the clear, along with metal particles in the clear. I called them about it and they said that I should try to buff it out. I know that they are made in China and the quality control might be off but I wouldn't have thought that it wouldn't be that bad. I was thinking about getting 2000 grit paper and sand the clear and rebuff.

for what you paid for those you should not have to fix them!! they would be replacing them!

ok so I'm just going to send all 4 back and get another set maybe I'm just being to picky but with a grand in the rims (that includes shipping) I want them to be pretty much flawless chinese made or not. Maybe you wouldn't see the scratches and blemishes on the car but I'll know they are there.

I talked with Bruce there and he gave me a return number and that they would contact UPS to pick them up and ship me out another set he didn't say anything about me having to pay for shipping either way. I wouldn't think that I would have to it's their product thats bad and not my fault that they are. If they do make me pay for shipping I'll never buy anything from them again.

Those rims are really made in China? Are you yankin' my chain? I thought somebody told me Western was making them.

everything seems to be produced there anymore this is why most people dont have fricken jobs over here. shame shame

Nope they say made in China right in the casting. A lot of the aftermarket parts are made there, hardly anything made in the US any more, why pay and American 12.00 an hour when you can have the same thing done overseas for 2.00. It's all about the profit margin, it's really sad how corporations are selling out American just to make a dollar.

trust me i have seen this in the glass business over the past 2 years especially. what used to be made locally is now made in china. its easy to make a profit when your employee is salaried $2,600 per year and you make 6-7 figures off of them during that one year.

Sad fricken situation. You know, I'd pay more for good ol' Made in the USA! I'm real tired of sending my money to Asia. I'd bet if Western would tool up and make them again, they cost ask $200.00 more a set and get it. If you needed a set of rims, you'd be better off buying new rather than buying a used set and restoring them. It aint cheep.If you doit yourself, what a pain!

I just got a a set of 15x8's about a week and a half ago. Mine looked fine to me.

I have a set I put on about a year ago and they look awesome!! Maybe quality has slipped since they were introduced.
