Topic: 78 grill inserts gold?

Can you all tell me if a 78 se should have gold grill inserts?  I’ve looked at about a dozen pictures and half of them have gold and the other half are black.  When I say gold I mean the flat areas not the entire insert.  Most of the pictures show the actual grill being black and the outer edge that touches the bumper cover chrome, leaving the area between the two gold.

The SE cars had the gold the non Se cars were black.

Got the inserts painted, and man do they look good.  They were a real pain to mask, but definitely worth it.

I'm resisting the temptation to post pics until I get the car striped.  I'm a bit nervous about the hood bird because I've never put one on before.  I ordered the application kit with my graphics from phoenix graphics so we'll see how it goes.  I guess if you never see pics posted you'll know it turned out like crap! Lol

What color black, and gold paint did you use for the inserts? Satin black is my guess.
