Oil worries for autocross
« on: May 25, 2021, 11:27:18 AM »
Hi All,
I want to try low speed autocross/follow the leader track events. I'm worried about oil pressure during hard turns in our 1973 date code Pontiac 455 engine with stock pan and 80psi pump. Car is a 1978 TA with a manual Trans.

How serious of an issue is this? Will I damage my engine? If I install a low oil pressure buzzer and quit if it goes off will that protect me?

Thanks,
Dave

will you even hear a buzzer while roaring about, focused on the next turn, probably with a helmet on?

Good Point, it would have to be a really loud buzzer.  Maybe I can get my kid to ride along and stare at the gage. She won’t mind punching dad if the needle drops. But then she might get a text message and have to respond.
