Gas Cap
« on: August 27, 2006, 03:22:49 PM »
I replaced the worn looking original  gas cap with a non locking Stant  a few weeks ago.
I 'd like to know from other 78 TA owners: Does your gas  cap lock tight?
Mine locks after a few turns but not super tight.
Is there a recomended brand locking cap?
I'm getting a small gas smell by the cap after the car runs for awhile.-Alan

My guess is that is not the right thread on the new gas cap and it does not fit your car right.  Look at the threads on the inside of the two caps and see if they match.

Hey Brett,
I'm starting to believe that it is the cap. I tightened the cap more and the smell is less now. I threw out the old cap so i cant compare it.
Will try a locking  Stant cap next.
