I do know that NPD has the car that was given to Burt Reynolds for doing the first movie.  It was in their showroom in Michigan.  All documented.
You can never have too many cars

Wait,You mean it wasn't a Smokey and Bandit Trans Am? I thought Burt Reynolds invented the Trans Am and designed it in black and gold just for the movie? Wow!

The one Sally got into after being picked up on the roadside in a wedding dress had 76 door panel clips. I don't know how much driving Burt Reynolds did in any of the movies, he was mostly sitting in one strapped to a flatbed. So my answer to the question "What years of Trans Am did Burt Reynolds drive as the Bandit" is NONE.

you can see him in at least a couple of these clips, he was said to have done alot of the driving. (gotta love when the rear tire comes off the ground in the hard right turn at 2:20, wonder if frame connectors had something to do with that?) no computer gen special effects here

Unfortunately I was almost quoting a few people. Every black trans am is a burt reynolds trans am. It gets so old. Thats why even if the paint job was free and done by the best painter but it had to be in black I would say"no thanks, ill keep the primer". Too many ignorant people. I understand someone not actually knowing but the ones who argue with you and say there was no black and gold ta until burt reynolds made the movie I just get angry.

Even though Burt didn't drive it, no one is mentioning the T/A in Smokey and The Bandit 3 :) :) :)

Yeah I understand that completely. It's just like all other pop culture, too many people who thinks somethings cool but no nothing really about it. I've had to correct people on it too. It also defames other T/A's unfortunately. For being so rare, you see WAY more Y82's online than other regular cars because everyone wants a bandit car. I love the Y82's and would love to have one, but I liked them before I had ever seen the movie. I love the movie too btw lol

And the one sold to a casino was sold to an individual who also owns the infamous 76 prototype. He had the 81 at POCI in Bowling Green, KY last year and it was signed in large font sharper on the center console.

The casino went bankrupt and sold everything.  I posted pics a few years ago of that car while we were at the casino in Deadwood.  It had a plaque that read that this was the car given to Burt to drive back and forth while filming.

And all of this BS about SATB is the reason I don't want a Black T/A anymore...  I'm sure a lot of people that own these cars fell in love with them from the movie, myself included.  Always wanted an SE up until the point thaty I got seriously into reworking my car.  Then I quickly realized everyone has a black T/A. Mine was originally Mayan Red, so it's goiong back to Mayan Red.  Just my Opinion :)
