just wanted to show all the car, and ask, what do you think I should do about the rust on the passenger side door?  Replace, or skin?

And one of the dash..

These are pretty much the way I brought it home.  No engine and lots of filth..Now it's still no engine (it's still at the machine shop) and less filth.

Looks like a nice project...is that a true Y88? Dash looks good...don't worry about dirt...it wipes off   :P
Hard to say about the door...looks pretty crusty; how's the other side of the door in that area?

well it can be skinned if the door frame isnt messed up really bad, but otherwise youll want to do a simple replacement...alot of people have doors and most of the time they have a hard time getting rid of them...just make sure if you buy a door that it has no rust.....

That whole corner of the door is pretty much gone.

I was thinking I'd rather just go with a replacement, but living in North Dakota there aren't a whole lot of parts floating around.  I've seen some go really reasonably on eBay, but shipping was more than the door.  Early this summer I'll be heading to Pennsylvania, hopefully everything works out and I can find one to pick up on my way back.

It is a true Y88, the grills are not painted gold, and I don't know if the snowflakes are correct or not as they were painted black somewhere along the line.  But the rest of the trim seems to be correct.

Hey, you're in Larry's state (ND)..he says the same thing about lack of cars there. You should be able to run across one on your way back if you're driving to PA and back.

Just based on my experience with repop sheet metal for our cars, I'd say find a rust free door. I haven't used a 2nd gen doorskin, but if they are anything like the rest of the sheetmetal, it would seem easier in the end to swap doors. Good lookin project by the way!

I just thought of something. Get ahold of Bigghooch. He's got a ton of cars and may have a good door. He's sending my car up here next weekend and if he's got a good one for you should be able to send it along for the ride. If I remember right you said you're up in Minot. I'm going to be headed up there in either late Feb or March to pick up my stepson from The Boy's Ranch for another home visit and I can probably make room for it.

Here's his profile and PM link.

I have a set of doors here in Ohio.  If you are driving through, look me up.
