Soften and restore vinyl seats ?
« on: March 10, 2014, 07:42:10 PM »

I came across a can of mink oil I used for water proofing boots when I worked outside in snow and rainy weather and It's hardly been used . It states it protects and keeps leather and vinyl . I'm curious about anyone having used the product on vinyl seats and such . It says it may darken some leathers . I've just spent a lot of time and effort cleaning my white vinyl seats and door panels and would like to soften and preserve them . If anyone can tell me if they would use this or the best/better alternative ! Thanks

I have white deluxe vinyl in my 76.  My interior is all original except for the carpet and center console.   I removed the interior during my restore and cleaned all the white vinyl components with Lexol leather and vinyl cleaner in the orange bottle.  http://lexol.com/     Following the instructions on the bottle.  It removed 36 years of grime from the seats.   To protect and keep the seats clean I use Mother's VLR leather protectant.   It keeps my seats looking great and soft to the touch, even for 38 year old vinyl.      http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-06524-VLR-VinylLeatherRubberCare-24/dp/B004N63S9W/ref=pd_sbs_auto_3/178-8657958-2640233?ie=UTF8&refRID=0FQ13EHCB7QQRP3T4010
