Cooling ? on 455
« on: November 19, 2008, 03:06:22 PM »
I took out the Chevy 350 sb and put in 455 olds. I had a cheap rad from autozone for the 350. My question is is this rad going to be good enough to cool this big block with my trans lines going through there as well? Am I going to be able to brake in this motor with this rad or is it going to be too small.

you should be good, just make sure you are running the correct mixture of coolant...thats the biggest thing.....also make sure you have a fan shroud on there as that provides an effcient airflow

It all depends- is the radiator a 3 or 4-core unit? Definitely good advice to have a shroud and a big OEM flex fan to keep that big block cool.
