re pop door shells
« on: April 27, 2009, 11:56:28 AM »
I was wondering if anyone here has used the new re pop door shells from classic industries?  If so what do they fit like?  I went out this weekend to see a MINT door,  I drove an hour and a half out of my way to see this thing and it turned out to be filled with a 1/4 inch of bondo and the bottoms were rotten.  I am sick of guys going around and advertising their garbage.  So now I am thinking about buying the new re pops.  Any help would be great.

i was told from people if you have a door with a solid frame they are worth it.  i was also told that the aftermarket complete doors the sell are NOT worth it becasue they are made to fit the camaros as well as many different years. so say you spend 200 on the door you will then need to spend an additional 400 on refab to get it to fit the lines right when you could have gotten a rust free Original door for 500.  those numbers are compelet padumas so don't use them as references, but do you get what i mean?

funny i had a guy call me because he heard i had a good door laying around then he looks at it and say's i'll pass it has tons of filler in it i grab my grinder grind off the seam sealer and say where was the filler? he then looks at another door again not advertised as i planned to use atleast one or both doors myself one day and why get rid of them as i might need them. and wants the pair at that point im like uhhh that door will never leave here so he didnt want the other door if he couldnt have a pair umm boo hoo i didnt want to sell them anyhow as they are very nice doors. oh he also said $100 for the pair sound good hahahahahaha yeah in your wettest dream bone head.

tell me about it that is why i fear even getting rid of one door that i have that has a small hole on the skin i think i'd rather patch it up or reskin it rather than tossing it seens how the rest of the door is very solid.

I know the feeling.  I have been looking for doors for a while now.  I came across a mint set of doors a year or two ago at a local swap meet,  and the guy wanted 400 for the pair.  I didn't know if it was worth it at the time.  So i didn't bother,  Man am I kicking myself in the rear now.  I am looking for both doors.

yeah that would have been a good deal. and with those swap meets i bet if you threw 360 bucks right in front of him he would have said yes, they love seeing green.

or even less for that matter as they dont want to waste a day and cost of a spot to unload and reload their crap.

Oh I know especially the last day,  like you said they dont want to load up all their stuff.  There is a big one coming up soon,  and this time if I find anything I am going to grab it right away.  Lesson learned.
