new nose and bumper cover???
« on: September 08, 2013, 11:47:21 AM »
hello.
having my '80 restored. the front nose piece and rear bumper cover is too beaten and cracked to salvage. has anyone tried new/repro pieces? issues with the fit? finished product?
ames has two different choices for each.
front--
front fascia, urethane, (reproduction)-- $425
front fascia, gel-coated "flexiglass" (reproduction) -- $535
rear bumper cover, urethane (RE) -- $259
rear bumper cover, gel coat fiberglass (RE)-- $359
the catalog states that for the rear fiberglass cover -"fit is very good and requires minimal adjustment". doesn't say anything about the front. although it does say that for the 77-78 gel coated flexi-glass front end, "originals were injected urethane. there is a reproduction urethane panel on the market but we have found that it does not fit properly"

has anyone tried any of them? i am more than willing to get the more expensive pieces if they fit better. just hoped someone could tell me.

I used a Stinger Flexiglass nose for my 79. Fit was pretty good but the bodyshop had to add glass in a few areas to get it perfect. He said that ALL glass repo parts need some type of work and none fit exactly. I am very satisfied with mine.
