lil bird touch ups
« on: September 14, 2007, 07:56:05 PM »
Does anyone know if its at all possible to touch up the paint for the bird on the shifter knob or change the color completely. More specifically, i'm wanting to change the color.
I did a test on the door birds

I know I can change the bird on the horn, but i'm wondering about the shifter and the center caps.
or maybe is there an aftermarket place that would do a custom color?

I don't know if any aftermarket places make something like that.  I am sure if you found someone to do it, it wouldn't be cheap.  As far as trying to remove the shifter knob emblem, that would be another feat in itself.  You might end up damaging it in the process.

Yea, I figured it would be a nice task to try to get it out of there.

Interesting you should post this, I was cruising yesterday looking at the bird in my horn center and wondering about changing its colour.
I was going to investigate removing the colour from the rear of the emblem and painting in some new colour.
My steering wheel was changed at some point and my bird is red instead of gold.

You mention this can be done, could you share your information please

Cheers

yeah i had thought about trying to touch up mine before, but I wasn't sure if I was going to break/ruin it or not.
I came across this:

that's pretty much the plan I had in my head. Turned out pretty good actually.

Nah, Brett -- you don't have to do it yourself...get Stu over here for the Nats next year and tell him you have some Bavarian bar maids you want painted... 8) :D ;)
