today I work on the steering rod (what ever its called) 

I took it apart cleaned it and painted parts of it.


got the rod from Jegs , its a polished s/s steering rod.


I drilled the hole for the pin and noched out the rod for the shim spring.





and put it back together.

I have been watching the thread and you do phenomanal ( i think thats spelled right) work. I have had my 78 for four years today, and dont have as much work done as you did in two weeks. Keep it up soon you will be finished!

Great job on everything. Can't wait to see those grills. I think its cool personal touches like that, that make these cars very individual.

hey i noticed your 77's interior was deluxe cloth did the door panels have cloth inserts in them or was it all vinyl? got a picture of them atleast?

vinyl and no good. I got one perfect lower left panel off it.  you are talking about the parts car?

yes the parts car I am not looking for a used part just curious as to what part to order. on place wants $209 for preassm vinyl another wants like 259 and 299 but another has ones described to be a cloth insert for those with cloth int for a cool 297 just want to make sure im ordering the right part for my car. all i have a tan all vinyl deluxe and they didnt come with my car they are from a 76 y82

thanks Charlie, I only did it because. the one on my 79 is rusting now from wire wheeling it. and I didn't want to paint it. I have enough of the bar left to do it to.
