Title: '81 NASCAR/Recaro T/A
Post by: USMCav8r on July 11, 2016, 05:55:30 PM
Hello All,

Many moons ago (35 years to be exact), I owned a brand new '81 NASCAR/Recaro Pace Car.  I still think it's one of the best looking American cars ever made.  I also had a silver/red '76 with a 400/4-spd and a white/white '78, also with a 400/4-spd, over the years.  I'm seriously looking at picking up an '81 Daytona Pace Car again and was wondering what you all think the price range would be for a purported all-original one with less than 15K miles.  I've only seen pictures of the car and would have to fly across the country to see it in person, inspect it and drive it.  Since I've been out of the T/A world for a long time, I thought I'd reach out to the experts, before going any further. All insights, thoughts and opinions are welcome.  Thank you!

Hey Keith,
According to the Hagerty price guide, a Concours condition would be around $51,600, excellent condition around $33,100, good condition around $16,600, and fair condition around $10,400.  Hope this helps...

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply and the info..  I saw that info on Hagerty also and didn't know if you guys agreed/disagreed, based on personal experience, what you've seen recently, etc..  Unfortunately for me, when I reached out to the seller, just a couple of days after I got the asking price, the car had already sold.  If anyone knows of an original, low mileage, '81 Daytona Pace Car for sale, please give me a shout.

Thanks again, Steve.  I really appreciate you taking the time to look at Hagerty and to reply to my post.  The quest continues!
