Blower Motor Not working ...HELP!!!
« on: November 24, 2019, 03:54:57 PM »
Hello all ...Noobie here kinda...I been a member for awhile just haven't posted...My son bought an 81 Trans Am T-Top car when he was 13yo , next three years its been in the shop being mildly restored, he paid for it himself..That night he went to drive it and went to turn the heater on and nothing..So the next day I get the test light out and I have power coming into the relay and out and the same with the resistor cleaned everything and reinstalled , checked the ground and wire brushed it reinstalled above the heater core ..Still nothing..Checked all fuses ..So I made some jumper wires and ran from the battery to the relay and The Blower fired right up!..I also checked the red wire that leads from the Alt to the relay ...So do I assume its the control switch inside the car in the dash ?...Any help would be greatly appreciates ...Thanks in advance ...BTW the P/O removed the A/C Compressor but all the wiring is still there

Is the old compressor harness grounded? Most the time the compressor is removed it also removes the ability of blower to work.

Originally there is a ground on the compressor bracket next to the pulley itself. That wiring needs to be intact and still using the ground to work, in minus compressor mode if not modified to suit.

Do you have a workshop manual or wiring diagram for the original 81 car? Might help to trace what should be there.
