interior door handle 69 convert

Help, I have a 69 FB convert with deluxe interior, just had a bunch of work on the top and added new door latch mechanisms, they work great from the outside but the passenger side is VERY difficult to open from the inside, I feel like I'm going to break the handle and then it finally unlatches.
The top guy says bring it back but he is far away, is there an easy adjustment I can do?

RENOVATIONS:
Sounds like your latch mechanism and/or the associated linkage (new?...repro parts or original?)) needs adjustment inside the door

Most probably the inner linkage is going bad.
