haaha they're pretty cool! I've been looking into the direct factory re-coverings for these cars. Expensive! They better look good.

Well ,my dad went and checked out the car tonight, and said hell yeah, lets do it! So i'll be picking it up within a week or two and getting this project started!! It's going to be a very long haul, and take awhile to get the car together, but in the end it's going to be great to see completed! Opinions on what I should do first, and if I got a solid deal and a great starting point are open! thanks

Cool - glad it worked out.

It really depends on your where you want it to be ... and your pocketbook - snaponbilly has a great thread about his TATA restoration and I thought there's another thread as well (my apologies, I've been "away" for a while).

I'm very  glad it worked out. A guy offered him to buy it, but he wanted to part it out as it's got all the original parts etc, and I wanted to finish the car and restore it, so he was much happier to hear that it was going to be taken care of. I can't wait to start, I just dont know where to start. I assume I'm going to get the rust out of the inside of the doors and get all the body dings popped out, then start on the interior, then once everything is completely done, get it painted.

Where would you guys recommend I start?

Awesome. It's mechanically 100% sound,  not terribly worried about that. Off to interior! These TATA interior parts aint cheap!

Well, that's what I'd do.  Others may say mechanicals, paint then interior.  They might have to paint sills, interior doors, inside trunks, etc.  I guess it depends on how far you're going with it.

I prefer interior then paint because there's always the possibility of jacking up the paint with carpet being installed, seats dragged in & out, or dinging a door on the garage wall.  It's easier to put cheap seatcovers and some old floor mats//plastic wrap to protect the interior at the paint shop.

Yeah, I'm doing interior first. The way I see it is if I can start doing the little things first and start seeing progress, it's going to be more fulfilling to see come together. If I wait to save up the 5,000 for the exterior work, and nothing else gets done whlie i'm saving the money, it will just be sitting, not getting worked on. I think the first thing I'll do is get the TATA carpets in, then do seat covers.

Does anyone have some advice on restoring the backs of the seats and the back arm rests? All those plastic pieces? Mine are in terrible shape, can I sand them down and repaint? Good interior paint companies with the right color silver for the TATA's? I want this to be a completely original restoration.

hahaha I've never heard anything described like that. It'll be pretty mean! I'm stuck with that pokey 403! Not complaining about numbers matching though
