The description is heart warming, no?  It's a comfort to know that some sellers are so expressive with their ads. ::)

looks like an aftermarket hoodbird to me, i didnt think they had so much of a whitish color where its supposed to be clear, and for a decal to look that fresh without any sunfading i doubt the sun caused it to do that...

The Trans Am decal on the rear spioler is WAYYY to high. The hood bird looks as if the paper backing is still on it, along with the sail panel birds.

even though there is all that negative my defense is my dash wore to a silver and i do remember as a kid my uncle had one that he ordered with no wheel flares.  but if it is truely a y88 with the numbers matching 403 this guy is sitting on a rare and potential goldmine. imo looks solid and if repainted it was so long ago that it could use another repaint.

Is it missing the shaker decal or is it just me?   Maybe a repaint?  Hmmmm.......  Wow...original BF Goodrich's to boot.  Is that a Silver bash bezel?  I can't see it from that far away.

Hammer

That's an L80 engine.  No shaker callouts for L78's and L80's  in 1978.

They're talking about the description.

It looks like a nice car though.  The shaker looks like it's mounted funny.  And there's something wrong with the hood alignment.

And notice that back  rear end.  The tail lights have black trim.  Then look at the wheels.  Remember the conversation Brett and I were having about the WS6 Wheels?  The (March?) bulletin which notified the dealers that the rear ends had recently converted to black, and also stated that the WS6 wheels were gold including the ribbed edges?  Here's a car that's in compliance with that bulletin.

OK, in HPP Volume 27 No 9, Rocky states "Quartz-movement clocks were introduced into the Firebird model line in June 1978......beginning with VIN 2W87ZZ8L175503......

That puts this vehicle after that period...with the black tail light trim....AND the all gold 15X8 wheel.  This car is probably a late June build.

Okay I'll bite, why is it a "rare care"?

Another case of "Rare Does Not Necessarily Equal Desirability."  Pontiac also built 6529 Y88's with a Pontiac 400, yet those cars bring higher prices due to the 400 engine instead of the 403.
