He definitely paid too much for that one to start with. According to the site where you register to win the car it still has a 403 in it. I don't know if they rebuild the one that is in it or what, maybe they just list it as still having a 403 and it is something else? Looks like all they were going to do is some suspension and brake upgrades and tranny and gear upgrade and everything else was pretty much stock. But know with the engine troubles, who knows? Sure does not seem to be nowhere near a 100k car right now, so they must do something.

I don't think it really has to do with the money.  The money just makes it a more interesting story.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Discovery Channel gave them the money.  Its just like all of the other reality TV shows.  I really just watch these shows for the entertainment knowing half of it is fake..

The Gas Monkey car is a 403. They spun a bearing in it twice during filming. Likely from the burn outs. I have friends on the set

Exactly what I thought, spun bearing. I made mention of that on another site and was basically told that doing those burnouts and doughnuts did not cause the engine problems. I said that the car was running fine before they started all that and sure did look suspicious to me. I love my 403 I have right now, and have never had any issues with the other 403's I have had in the past, but I do know the limitations of a stock 403, you do NOT over rev and keep the rpm's up for long periods of time or this is what happens. 403's in stock form are great engines, (actually like them better than a 400 for everyday use), but if you are going to beat on them hard you better do some mods to the engine first, or get a 400 and build it and save some money.

Great 2nd part..This will truly help regenerate interest in such a great car and movie. Love the Fast and Loud show and this two part series just reinforced that.  Has got me wanting to get back on my 81 TTA and my LS conversion.  These are such beautiful cars

I still say the donuts they showed "on air" should not have hurt that motor. however, what was done off camera is a whole other thing

I like to win that ruined car, even with the Gas Monkey decals, I'd still be proud of it. Nice car.
