Hi all, from Germany
« on: June 13, 2010, 08:17:16 AM »
Hi,

I searched for a long time here in Germany and the rest of Europe for a 2nd gen TA (SE), and I've foung one in the UK one month ago.

I got the on June 1st. this car.

The facts (I have the PHS documents):

-'78
-Y82
-W72
-A/C (but the compressor, hoses and condenser was removed)
-Hurst hatch t top roof (I think, it's one of the last with Hurst, because the PHS docs say that the "Date shipped" is 01-20-78

it's one of 2856, but nobody know how much of this 2856 was with Hurst Hatch.

The bad things of this car:

-wrong valve covers for a w72
-wrong engine color (red)
-seat covers needs to replace
-it had a Olds 403 filter with shaker hood without air cleaner filter, so I do need a 4bbl air cleaner assembly with shaker hood
-need a new trunk floor panel, a new quarter panel and a few other sheet metal
-all fender flares was removed
-.....

it's really a lot to do, but I think, it's a really rare car, and it's worth to do that.

that's the actually state of my restoration:

I need to remove all parts, next year the car will go to a company what can remove all the paint and undercoat with chemicals, after that procedure I remove the bad parts and weld new parts on the car.

the car comes from Falkirk, near Glasgow / UK

that's the car: http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/78/58053678.html

I come here from Merkers (you can find a bit about this with google http://www.battlefield-travel.com/site/1442660487894944/homepage/trips__day_trips/trips/thuringia_-_top_secret/historical_details/merkers_-_nazi_gold/)

it's near Eisenach and in the middle of Germany.

welcome to the site. that is a rare car especially in Germany.  Be careful with those hurst hatches they don't make replacement rubber for those.  im glad to see the car is getting the right care make sure you take lots of photos.

I'll need a lot luck to get all parts what I need :)

@Gunner

for the Autobahn I do have a Opel Omega and my fathers 300C. The T/A is only for some sunny sundays in the year (maybe 700 mls) :)

But I think that needs a few years for doing all that. Because after the welding, all the parts get a CDP (Cataphoretic Dip Painting). That's expensive but the best way against rust in the future.
