I imagine you will have at least some rubber fuel hose.
Get a piece of steel braided fuel line,and add a fuel filter between the fuel pump and carb.
I like the clear type so you can see the fuel flow and the color of the fuel.
If you have any rust in the fuel system,you may see it before you see particles in the fuel filter.
You could use an fittings,but they are about $10 each.
A few couplings and elbows,and you easily have $70-$80 for 12 inches of hose and fittings.
Every engine plumbs differently depending on where you carb accepts it's fittings.
You'll know pretty quickly if you ever develope a fuel leak.
Nothing unsafe about running rubber fuel line.
