xxx customer order
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:43:13 PM »
my 79 trans am is not a ws6 car or a se but on the build sheet it says xxx customer order.  Does anyone know what this means and does it add any value to the car?
Thanks,
Erich

It basically means there was a change or two on the car when the dealer ordered it.  Could be that they added the body side molding, or added or subtracted something else from the car.  So it is quite common to see that on a build sheet and does not add any value to the car.

Can you scan in a copy of your build sheet?  That way I can look at it and see what it says.  You can send it to me by email.

Yes, the CHA for the decals means you had the charcoal (silver) decals on the car originally.  From looking at your build sheet, you have (in box #79) 19 and 19 for paint coeds, so the car was the starlight black exterior with the Silver Decals (Nice combination by the way).  The interior code (in box #77) shows 19B which is the black cloth deluxe interior.  It also looks like your car came with Fisher T-tops (CC1 in box #78), power windows, A/C, Power trunk, Cruise Control, AM/FM Cassette with Power ant., Tilt wheel, .... pretty much a loaded Trans Am.  Do you have any other questions about the build sheet?

hey brett.    just to confirm you are saying his car was black with charcoal/red decals from the factory???    ???

i always thought & so far have confirmed that the only color decal offered on the black t/a was a gold bird, or s.e. gold bird.   i didnt think any other color decal package was an option for black cars?

See  hinschy1 I told you the Hitman would be able to help.  He's GOOOOOOD with these cars.

78w72,

You are correct, partially.  The decal that was available in 79 for black cars that I believe the Hitman was referencing, and he can correct me if I am wrong, had five shades of silver with red highlights (hence your reference to red I believe and was a good point).  Year One has this hood bird listed as item number H7980SLV.

Hammer

How about a pic. I agree with Brett, I like this color combo.

thanks for your help, i think this car will look good when i get it restored to original.  i just want to double check to make sure i have it correct.  the cha is for the silver bird, does the  "*T  CD-" mean anything as far as the other graphics are concerned or can i order all silver.  Also, the car now has gold and black snowflakes on it but the build sheet says,
N90 cast alum whl gray,  which wheels are those and is there a place i can go to see what they look like.  Thanks for all your help guys, this website is awesome, i couldn't imagine trying to find out all this info 10 or 15 years ago.
