Yep, but that's with 30 years of hindsight. In 1972 I could have gotten a Corvette with a 4 speed for a mere $3,000. It was "used" but only had 4,000 miles on it before it was repo'd. I didn't have $3,000. Look at what it would be worth today.
Exactly! Around 1973 or 1974 I was thinking about buying a 1963 Corvette. A nice one was around $3K. Around the mid 80's you could pick up a fully loaded Trans Am with low mileage for around $3K.
In 1978, the cost of that Y88 upgrade was almost a month's salary...before taxes! GM was cashing in. But they are beautiful cars.
