Guys

It's hell getting old - I've been asked and can't remember - is there a difference between a 400ci & 403ci shaker scoop (other than the decals)? I seem to remember that the bases are different, but the fiberglass tops are the same - Correct?

The 403 is offset more than the 400. Can't use one for the other.

Sorry, yes the shaker itself is the same. I was speaking of the base, like you had already stated. All I did was tell you what you already knew.

Yes, the fiberglass scoops are the same for a 400 and 403, and 301, from late 77 up through 81. However there are some scoops for 305 Chevys that have a "bump" sticking out on the passenger side of the scoop, so that one is a little different.

Anyway, the metal "base" riveted to the bottom of the scoop can also be called an adapter plate, because the plate adapts the shaker to fit whatever engine that it's meant to be used on.

There is actually no difference on the decals either, both 400 and 403 spells 6,6 litre. The W72 is another story though, the shaker lettering spells T/A 6,6 on that one.
