79 T/A Master Cylinder
« on: July 09, 2021, 10:11:13 AM »
79 Trans Am Anniversary Edition 400/4Speed

I'm looking to replace the master cylinder and asking for recommendations for the best mfg. part number to purchase.

I found an AC/Delco 18M80 (?)
I know that the stores have replacements as well.

Many years ago, I obtained a GM parts list and they list the following MC part numbers that seem to match my car:

18005733
18005271

Anyway, anybody recently replaced the MC and could recommend a good replacement part.

Thanks!
Peter

Rear discs? #18009576.

Many will quote this as an application match but not be identical. You want it to work as it should but also to look original? Ignore those with extra bleeders, they are fine but are not an original feature of this model. A lot comes down to the variations in the lid and and the plating if it matters to you. I can't comment on brands or which to use, and many times the photos don't match what turns up in the box, or that it is the identical item to the alternative brand in a different box.

Note that even the AC Delco number you mentioned features 2 different lids in the same ad. So if you purchase based on that and ship around the world, which do you get?!
