Power Steering Brackets
« on: January 06, 2007, 05:27:10 PM »
I need some advice, I remove my AC and now I cannot seem to line
up the power steering. I think it had the wrong brackets whwn I bought them.
Does anyone know what kind of brackets I would neet.
Its a chevy 350 engine with an Edelbrock water pump, It has threads going through the water pump but the brackets do not line up. I done hours of research on the internet and there are just too many options. I have the screw holes in the heads.
Thanks

The one I'm doing right now has a 327 with double hump head ( no accessory hole in the heads ) I used a pump from a late 70's chevy van it mounts on the bottom,I haven't cleaned and painted yet I'm still making stuff. If you are using stock manifolds you should not need a spacer at the top bolt.
need automotives anonymous but I'm not looking for it.

In the engine and engine-part swapping I've done, sometimes I pretty much had to start from scratch with some of the brackets.  In those instances I just dug into a pile of similar parts and drilled and welded to get what I needed.  There are thousands of combinations out there so unless you're running something that's pretty close to stock you may have to get creative.

Thanks for the pic. I have the same braket and water punp, but
I just could not get the brackets to line up. I aslo have a cradle
bracket that bolts through the hole in the water pump but I thinks thats for cars with AC. I guess I will be creative.
Thanks

We had to cobble together brackets when we did our engine swap years ago. You might try getting all of the brackets off a junk engine.
