thanks Justin,

Rick,
I took the doors fenders and trunk lid to Aesthetic Finishers  in Piqua, Oh.
they will bake all the parts in a oven and wash them then glass bead the parts.  they should come back looking new.
the door will be clean inside and out.
they only charge 75.00 per part.  so thats not bad at all. If I was to figure my time and materials doing it myself.  and dont have to worry about the rust coming back in a few years.
they told me today 3 weeks before I get them back  :P

Those came out really good Doug.  I can't wait to see your car start coming together and get painted.

yes,  there is a place in Dayton thats doing it.    a chemical dip, rinse, and primed.   they wont be red oxide but they will be primed in spots I cant spray.

the hood and deck lid were blasted with plastic media  because of the rubbery glue used in them.
its about 1500 to do the hole car.  but it has to be totally striped.  it will take bondo, seam sealer and rubber off like melting butter.  I didnt take the  body because I didnt want to re-seal the seams that dont need it and the spots you cant get to.

DP'ed so far .  it takes a wile to sand under the hood frame work. I got about 4 hours in the hood (bottom side)

I found the date code on the hood, it from a 81.  so it was changed at some point for some reason.  the fenders are 77

If I might ask, what is that port for? The hole with the two lateral cuts in it? What is it's purpose and where is it located? If I was guessing it would be under the seat.

they are drain holes. they have a plate cover over them that is held in by seam sealer with tabs that go in the slots and bent over.

I think GM used them when the body got dipped in primer.  there is also a drain in each quarter panel.
