Title: 78 Trans Am with WS6 performance package but not W72?
Post by: clbcpa1 on December 11, 2017, 07:15:26 PM
Just wondering if there are any statistics on how many, if any, 78's were built with WS6 but not W72 T/A 6.6 litre option?

I have a PHS verified 78, Martinique Blue, WS6 with a 403 olds so there must be more of them out there.   Mine was shipped from the Van Nuys factory on April 29th and bought in West Los Angles on May 4th.

To my understanding,  early built 78's with W72 pkg required the WS6 pkg also.
(this changed later in production and WS6 was no longer "required" with purchase of W72 pkg).

I would assume based on this that though WS6 could be required with W72, a WS6 pkg could be ordered w/o W72 pkg.

Thanks for the info.  Where is the engine code located on the factory invoice?  I see the WS6 performance option but no engine code?

Look for W72 on the build sheet

I'm curious to know  myself- I just bought a 78 TA factory martinique blue W72 4-speed project car. I'm a little bit away from getting the PHS build sheet, but the car is an early 78 (Hurst t-tops), so the WS6 question is in the back of my head.
