Randy Combs Restored bezel with New Speedhut Gauges (Pics)
« on: December 25, 2012, 09:45:32 AM »
UPS just dropped off my new gauges and the (Woodgrain) bezel Randy did for me.  I had to install the gauges to see what they look like.

I really like how it looks.  The only thing I had a hard time deciding when I ordered the gauges is whether to go with Black outer bezels or Polished.  I chose polished.  I think it turned out great.  I didn't want something that looked completely custom but I wanted something a little different.  I can always change the bezels if I want to go with black later.

Gauges are from www.speedhut.com

They fit right in the bezel.

The last two holes are for A/C.  I ordered two extra polished bezels to go there.  The cool thing about the speedo is it uses GPS so there is no speedo cable.  www.speedhut.com check it out.  You can design your own gauges the way you want and they build them.  There is a company called http://www.classicthunderroad.com/products/sfID1/37/sfID2/17/sfID3/45/productID/651 that makes a loom to plug into the car so you can just wire the gauges up.

They will work on your 79 and they fit right in the bezel holes.

Here is the series I ordered.  You can customized them any way you want.  Play around on the website, it's pretty cool how it works.

Yes the speedo and tach are 4" and the smaller gauges are 2 1/16.

I called the guy's about the wiring harness today and they won't be back in the office till monday so I can't verify anything until then.  These guy's sell complete dash bezels with gauges so I'm betting they will be what we want.
