Been doing more wire wheeling and priming.

Started with the trunk hinges and gasket groove




Trunk floor pan






Also cleaned up where windshield mounts





I have purchased new quarter panels, trunk drop downs, outer wheel wells, and new doors.
I believe I have found a good body guy, scheduled to go to body shop at the end of the month.

I'm curious to see what the body guy charges you. I have to replace the right quarter and rocker on my car. My tail panel is rusted but it is not nearly as bad as yours was. The floor and trunk I am hoping to do myself eventually. Your car looks like it is turning out really nice.

Nice, I just picked up a 78 marty blue W72 4 speed  needs quarters and a hood but its one owner and all original and numbers matching

Ok, finally was able to download a few pics. My brother has been busy cleaning up and sorting thru the wiring.


Hung the doors per body guys request. He wants doors on for body line reference.




Installed trunk deck too, also for body line reference.


And I picked up my seats from the guy that reupholstered them. Pretty pleased with how they came out.




Tomorrow planning on painting some the plastic parts for the seats. Still waiting to hear from body guy on date to drop off the car for quarters.

Car went to body guy for quarter panels last Sunday, says he will have it 2-3 weeks


So now I'm working on the tail light assemblies
blasted to bare metal


Primed housings


Washed and painted the silver in the assembly where the light bulbs go


Cleaned the lenses too. Anybody know why one has silver outlines and the other is black?


Also tackling the cracked dash while the car is away.
Here is the dash the way I took it out


Peeled off the brittle pieces and cut out the crusty foam


Spray foam to replace some of the padding


Shaved off excess foam, sanded and added a layer of padded dash filler


That's it for now. Have lots of sanding to do but pretty confident the dash will come out nice. Should have a pic or two from the body guy this week.....

This also is the texture spray. Didn't get a pic after using the SEM color coat.

I'm impressed with the results of the dash.  I would be interested is seeing photos of the chemicals you used; spray foam, dash filler, texture spray, and final color (SEM?).  Did it come out looking as good as the pictures show?

Is there a telling of a dash repair when handled (e.g., harder/softer in spots of repair)?

Thanks Transatrom! Here is a pic with the SEM colorcoat finish. I am really happy with the way the dash turned out. You can see a few small imperfections, but overall it looks great. As far as the feel, the padded dash filler is flexable when it dries, so it feels just like the rest of the dash.

Gonna start working on the underside next. Have lots of seam sealing to do. Also brake and gas lines, gas tank etc.

Appreciate the chemical photos used on the dash.  I'm at the point where I was going to send mine off to "Just Dashes", but think I'll experiment with my console first to see if I can achieve professional results.

The console I have is cracked around the window switch.  I found the mounting screws up forward were missing causing it to flex too much and I think that is what caused the failure.

Just Dashes is in the price range of $500-$800 I believe for each; the dash and the console.  This is a more attractive solution if it works out.

Yeah I was skeptical at first but i figured what do I have to lose. I haven't been able to find info on how the repair holds up, so hopefully it will last a while. Definitely looks better than it did.

Installed new condenser coil, radiator, and my brother ran some of the wiring





Did some more wire wheeling on the inner fender wells, primed and undercoated




Painted new gas tank with Eastwood Tank Tone zinc coating.

Hoping to get some decent weather soon so I can start sand blasting again.
